So just what is this Rocinante thing?
From Rocinante
Rocinante is the name of Don Quixote's horse.
Like that helped?
Don Quixote de La Mancha is the main character in a Spanish satiric story by Miguel Cervantes, written in 1605.
Roughly, Don Quixote is driven to insanity by reading the old stories of Knights and Chivalry. He believes that he is a Knight, out to fight the evils of the land in the tradition of the Chivalric Romances. He jousts windmills thinking they are giants, believes a serving wench is a beautiful lady, and that an inn is a castle, and its innkeeper the castle's Lord.
Throughout his adventures, Don Quixote is accompanied by his loyal servant Sancho (who Quixote thinks is his squire), and Rocinante, Don Quixote's trusted steed, who is unconcerned with Quixote's sanity, just being a loyal friend.
Clear as mud, eh? How's this: because I like it. Better?
