Provided mission-critical Unix and system support for the Mars Space Flight Facility, a NASA funded space research center. Serviced as manager and technical lead for building, maintaining and managing the entire Facility infrastructure including more than 50 Linux workstations, Sun servers, and Enterprise level storage systems. Developed, installed, and maintained two 50-node (100 CPU) Linux clusters, including providing support to external users. Designed server room improvements including UPS/power and HVAC/cooling. Managed 2 full-time and 2 part-time direct report system administrators, assigning tasks and priorities, and mentoring student workers. Director of Technical Integration, November 1999 - June 2000

Managed integration of eight separate Internet Service Providers (ISPs) throughout the Western United States into a single provider. Created and maintained hardware and software vendor relationships and advised senior management on network upgrades and business plans of each of the individual ISPs. Designed and implemented enterprise-wide mail, DNS, and web servers for integration and corporate name change using Sun Microsystems Sparc hardware and Solaris Unix. Provided technical disclosure services for company acquisitions involving investigating the computer systems of potential purchases (Sun Solaris, HP-UX, BSDi, and Linux systems). Designed, standardized and purchased Cisco switches and routers for network upgrades for individual ISPs. Traveled to each ISP to oversee network design, plan network growth, specify Unix and Linux systems, and provide organizational continuity.

Frontier GlobalCenter, Inc.	Phoenix, Arizona
Network Operations Manager, January 1998 – November 1999

Responsibilities included managing day-to-day environment for the dedicated access Network Operations Center and coordinating staff of more than 20 employees to maintain a fully staffed 24-by-7 Network Operations Center, supporting over 3,000 distinct dedicated-circuit customers. Designed, implemented and maintained a Sun Solaris Autoclient server/FRU client system for the Phoenix Operations Center. This system was so successful that other managers requested the same Autoclient setup for Sunnyvale Network Computing Center (NCC). Built and maintained various Sun Microsystems Sparc server systems and Linux systems for both internal and customer use.

Network Operations Supervisor, February 1997 – December 1997

Responsibilities included system and network administration for a large Internet Service Provider (50,000+ customers) including DNS, e-mail, Unix system administration (Solaris, BSDi, and Linux), Livingston PortMasters, and Cisco routers and switches. Developed, implemented, and maintained Remedy Action Request System internal help desk/trouble ticket system under Sun Solaris for Network Operations use. Additional responsibilities included being GlobalCenter’s Security Administrator for six months.

Designed, wrote and updated operations procedure manuals for the Network Operations Center.

Performed system administrator and support duties on linux and Solaris servers.
